First Visit

In 1811 George C. Sibley's expedition was guided from Fort Osage, Missouri, to the Salt Plains by Osage Indian named Sans Orielle. Sibley and his followers are said to be the first white men to visit the plains. Evidently, his rand McNally was new. It makes me ponder this question; Why has it taken Joe so long to visit? Distance...? Yeah, th’ Rand McNally must of had a crease in the fold of the map, close to the Oklahoma/Kansas border. Can’t say for sure. Great Salt Plains NWR Here we are!
